Some of you may be long time fans of Tarte, not famliar with them at all, or you may have only been recently introduced to them thanks to their ‘Trippin with Tarte’ campaigns featuring Aussie influencers – all over Instagram, Snapchat etc. I won’t get right into it – but how CRAZY ridiculous are those trips. Those girls are so incredibly lucky to be spoilt with such lavish gifts and an amazing holiday (Hayman Island, previously there was a trip to Tahiti with American MUA’s).
Apart from the fact that Tarte is ALL OVER the instagram/beauty vlogger/influencer scene, there are actual solid reasons to love them.
- Free from parabens and phthalates
- Vegan / Cruelty Free
- Use ‘skin-vigorating’ ingredients such as Acai Berry, Amazonian Clay, Goji Berry Extract, Maracuja, Vitamins A, C and E.
- They stand by the statement that their product formulas actually work (or do what they are claimed to do)
I have been using these products for the good part of 2 months now, and thought it was about time I shared my thoughts. The products included in this mini review are:
- Maracuja Oil
- Tarte in Bloom Eyeshadow Palette
- Clean Slate Primer
- Deep Dive Cleansing Gel
- Frxxxxtion Stick 3 in 1 exfoliating cleanser
I first became interested in Tarte after watching countless youtube make up tutorials. I made my first purchase of the Maracuja Oil at Sephora in Waikiki in November last year. It was pretty much instantaneous love. This oil is formulated to give a healthy radiant complexion without greasiness. It has multiple uses, however I tend to use this oil at night and find that it helps even out skin tone whilst also giving my skin a ‘fullness’. You can also add a drop or two into your foundation to give a more dewy finish – although I have not tried this myself.
On Boxing (or New Years) day Tarte cosmetics held a promotion & sale which included free shipping to Australia. Of course, me being me, couldn’t miss the opportunity to grab some products I had been lusting after, whilst avoiding the annoying shipping charges that normally occur. I know its a neccessary part of shopping online, however paying for postage really urks me – note to all stores – just hide it in the product price lol!
Tarte in Bloom Palette
The colour palette features some beautiful shades – the soft beige / nudes and bronze are my faves. I generally use the left side of the palette more than the right, but thats purely because my everyday habits which mainly consists of kindy drop off and grocery shopping, don’t really call for a dark smokey eye lol. The colour pay off on these shadows is quite good. I did have to press harder and apply more product for the lighter shades pigments to come through on my skin. Within the packaging you also receive a little pamphlet with tips, tricks and a few ‘looks’. Winning for beginners – although lucky for us Tarte has plenty of videos online to help.
Clean Slate Primer
To be 100% honest, I’m not a primer person. Mainly because I don’t often wear foundation. However for the times that I have worn foundation over the last few months, this primer is perfect! It is incredibly light weight, not sticky, and glides on like a dream.
Deep Dive Cleanser and Frxxxtion Stick
The deep dive cleanser and frxxxtion stick were purchased as part of a sample pack (hence the small sizing). I really LOVE the frxxxtion stick – it can be used as a scrub or as a deep cleansing mask. I tend to use it as a mask, and then when I’m ready to remove it I rub and exfoliate my face with it. Neither products felt harsh on my skin, which was left feeling nice and smooth. In order to really see whether there is a great improvement by using them I think I would need to use them consistently for 6 months prior to giving any indepth judgement.
Whilst Tarte has an amazing range of products with strong core values I am realistic in the fact that the pricing points aren’t affordable for everyone (hence why I don’t have a wide range!). Being mindful of this, I would definitely recommend The Maracuja Oil and the Frxxxtion Stick. I really would love to add the Tarte in Bloom palette in there aswell – but I am going to test a few other higher end palettes before recommending a ‘go – to’ one (I would rather you all enjoy and only have to buy one expensive palette rather than 3 average ones). If there are any other products you would like me to review from either the Tarte range or another cosmetics/skincare company please drop me a line and I will check them out!
Peace and Love,
